-------------------------------------
FORUM POSTING RULES
-------------------------------------

1.) The Featured Discussions and Series Discussion forums should NOT be used as a chat rooms.

2.) No "trolling" will be allowed in any of the discussion forums and should be limited to only the topics/discussions/questions at hand. Do not double/triple post to the same thread. Use the edit button.

3.) Posts with just an emoticon or one word response are not allowed. Abuse of the former rule that let users use their best discretion has forced this decision. This type of behavior is considered "spamming" and is not allowed.

4.) Do not type in ALL CAPS.

5.) Please ensure your posts use good grammar and are meaningful to the discussions at hand. This is a discussion forum and anything you post should be written in proper English with clear sentences (capitals at the start of lines, punctuation at the end).

6.) Any non-Seven Seas conversations should be limited to the sections available in the General Discussion forums.

7.) Any posts, comments or private messages that are deemed abusive or theartening in tone or nature and directed towards another member or the forum itself will be deleted and your account WILL be banned. Banned accounts will not be reinstated.

8.) Posts of a pornographic nature or signatures containing pornographic links or images are not allowed. Requesting pornographic and/or hentai material is also not allowed.

9.) Signature images should be no larger than 450 pixels wide and 150 pixels high. NOTE: Width is our main concern as it breaks our forum layout.

10.) This is a company site and any advertising for other sites that is preceived as overt (i.e. directly asking and/or demanding that people to a forum or website) and not related to the topic at hand will be deleted and a warning issued via private message. Linking to fansub and scanlation sites are also not allowed. Failure to comply with the warning will get you banned from this forum.

11.) Post counts do not matter in this forum and we have removed the ability to see a user's total post count. Everyone is on equal ground when it comes to post counts.

12.) Due to high levels of spam, the "@mail.ru" e-mail address domain extension has been banned from this forum.

13.) If you maliciously belittle someone, then you will be banned outright. This type of behavior will not be tolerated at all.

14.) When posting a spoiler, please use the following color codes to make the text the same color as the background:
#efefef (light rows)
#dee3e7 (dark rows)

Example:
Code:
[SPOILER][color=#efefef]Some spoiler text here.[/color][/SPOILER]

We've refined our forum rules in light of recent events and have taken steps to ensure that posts made add to the forum and are not used as an attempt to spam the forum to raise post counts. In addition to revised rules, we have also removed the ability to see what your post count is. Ranks are still in place, but post count numbers are not.

If you have any questions about the rules, you may post them in this thread. Thanks for understanding and enjoy your stay. ^_^

I was thinking of removing the need for all new users to verify their accounts via the e-mail they supplied, but after the trouble KillJoy caused today, I'm rethinking that move. Thoughts?

It's usually a good idea to have a verifiable email system in place, but if someone is intent on causing trouble, it's not going to stop them.

I wouldn't think it'd matter either way here. Times are quiet enough to not be troublesome

Well, the problem with the e-mail verification is I get a lot of bounces where people sign up and can't verify because they gave a bad e-mail address.

I think it's a nice safety net to prevent someone from having the auto-signups computers can do nowadays, but at the same time if people are careless in filling out the form and miswrite their e-mail address they might get mad that the e-mail never comes or that they can't log-on.

I am torn on this one, but I think the e-mail address verification is a nice way to prevent anyone from signing up very easily under three names, at least by making it one step harder for them to do three or more signup names by having to keep going back to their or another e-mail address.

I personally had trouble with this.

It actually delayed my signing up due to the fact that I made a typo.

I basically had to make another account to get Adam's AIM s/n.

Maybe a "Re-Type E-Mail" e-mail box.

It might be a good rule to have some sort of suggestion againt "chat speak" unless English is not your main language. It just gets annoying to some of us how people type out messages like this: "Wel i think hes mad at me cuz I siad sumthin mean." Even worse is when they use numbers....Spelling Mistakes are okay, since not everyone can spell like gods (not saying I can either) but purposefully being lazy and writing like its an AIM conversation is annoying.

I tend to agree with chat speak, it is hard to follow what people are saying using that at times. I also think though, if they are posting, regardless of spelling, they have to be careful to leave spaces between words. I have seen a few posting as follows recently "Ireally liketaht won bcause itscool" . Or something along those lines. It does make such messages hard to read.

Well, yes. But also when they substituted words for numbers like "This is 4 u" or "Lets go 2 the park".

Indeed...it is especially annoying when they type like that during Role-Playing....it just takes from the feel of the character in my opinion...but hey...Adam-sama's the boss...it's up to him...

THis one doesn't seem ot be enforced. I think pretty muc heveryone breaks the hight regulation, and a few the width. Mehaps you should edit this rule, as to not scare people?

Frankly, I don't mind either way, but some things (IE: The "1337" and post count) have beened edited in the past, and I thought I'd mention it.

The signature size listed is something I like to shoot for as it's an ideal that DDRfreak's forums have that's good to follow. The only time that we enforce the size is when the width breaks the forum layout, but the smaller the better as far as forum signature images are concerned.

(remembers pre-GSM when there were 2 - 3 people with wallpaper-sized signatures)
