I also think it is an excellent rule.

Is there any problem if I put in my signature an image that links to an Otaku Forum?

Signature-links are prefectly acceptable so long as it is not to illegal and/or pornographic sites.

Would it be worth it to add a rule about a minimum number of posts before someone can make his/her own topic? I find it annoying that a lot of newbies create their own topic before even reading the rules. In fact, a lot of people don't even bother reading the rules at all. It's still frustrating that all these new topics are popping up.

Or sorry, forgot that post counts are not visible. But I'm talking some sort of qualifier as to time. Maybe at least a week after registering.

I cant say that it would be a good idea, only because there is going to be that person who does follow the rules and posts a topic correctly. Why should they be forced to have a certain number of posts?

Not everybody posts in the spam sections, and the sections for the manga don't move all that fast. So you would have to either make the post qualifications really low, which would be pointless, or lump in the people who may have good questions or good ideas with the people who you want to have post tabs on.

As long as they aren't double posting and are using correct punctuation/grammar, then a person is following the rules.

k, just checkin'. I just thought that people who join up should add on to existing conversations first. You know, get their feet wet.

And to respond to Token, it doesn't just happen in the spam sections. I saw it in the Aoi House section. It seems like there were four different threads about Aoi House becoming an anime. That seems a bit over the top. 59cobalt brings up a good point in one of the Anime Addicts threads where he says that there's nothing wrong with starting new threads, but the benefit of lurking a little at the beginning is to pick up the customs of the forum. Rather than dive in, be patient and join in on existing conversations first. Then, once you have the idea, you can start asking your own questions.

I scratched the idea of a post count, but a time frame would be more doable. And yes, we would be possibly frustrating some people who do have valid ideas, but it's either that or let anyone new go on a rampage, whether they have valid ideas or not.

Edit: Case and point.

I am glad some made a rule... like number 13, most other forums owned by a company just hire some know-nothings and it becomes a massive spam\flame fest.
