I've had a month or two to digest this, and I wanted to leave some comments as a buying customer. (I'm editing this from a different review I left elsewhere.)

There were a few parts that came off as too colloquial for me, like dialogue was shoehorned into certain exaggerated and stereotypical American accents with added slang padding. Doing that just made it feel like parts were dumbed down to a narrower audience.

The following is a typography suggestion. In comparing against the raw Japanese manga, if the original Japanese bubble had a bolded word, then by all means bold it or make the font bigger. There are definitely places where it's necessary, like in volume 3 when Yukari is talking to Ayana about Maki. But the way you formatted most of the translation felt like exaggerated baby talk, to make an example, since most of the original bubbles didn't have all those excessive internal formatting bits. I don't think we don't need every other thing bolded or italicized to get a point. It feels a bit patronizing considering this is seinen with a wider audence range.

Page 127 in the last panel has two switched bubbles, but I didn't notice any other obvious mix-ups.

I really appreciated that certain Japanese terms were kept, and that Japanese name order and honorifics were kept. Presence of translation notes in the back is always a big plus. I'm glad you guys subtitled major sound effects rather than replacing them like in Bleach or Claymore, which usually end up being weirdly distracting for me. Great job in these respects.

So ultimately in this critique, I'll reiterate my suggestion to get rid of the emphasis-typography or at least tone it down. Otherwise, good job, and thanks for bringing this rare gem over from Japan.

i thought about this too.. the slang used came across as really exaggerated - it's not as if people really talk like that all the time in every conversation, which is what it felt like in both volumes released thus far. in australian terms, it could be likened to a "bogan" accent, or way of talking. it was just really overdone i think. i know certain sentences or words need to be emphasized, but if it's done too much, it gets repetitive and annoying. not sure if it's much use talking about it here though.
other than that, i thank you from the bottom of my heart that seven seas has licensed this series and is continuing to do so, and it looks like volumes 3-7 have planned releases in the future. go do yourselves a favour and check this series out. hayashiya shizuru ftW!!!!!!!
