MANGA FOR SONY PSP: SEVEN SEAS ANNOUNCES 12,000 DOWNLOADS IN 5 DAYS
FROM: http://www.gomanga.com/news/press_009.php
(Los Angeles, April 26, 2005) - Seven Seas Entertainment announced today that there have been an astonishing 12,000 downloads from their web site, Gomanga.com, since last week, when they first made manga previews available in Sony PSP format. Seven Seas has become the first manga publisher to release free downloadable manga content for the Sony PSP and plans to continue the trend by releasing further chapters in coming months.
"This is only the beginning," says Seven Seas President Jason DeAngelis. "We've discovered that the Sony PSP is a great, innovative way to reach manga fans, and the fact that we're still a small company with flexibility means that we're able to work fast to provide original, free content for PSP users."
Currently, the entire first chapters of the four flagship Seven Seas titles -- Amazing Agent Luna, Blade for Barter, Last Hope and No Man’s Land -- have been made available for all manga fans to download and read via the Sony PSP's built-in photo viewer. In all, 155 pages of downloadable manga have been specifically converted for optimal viewing on the Sony PSP with each special preview consisting of thirty to forty pages of story giving readers on the go the perfect opportunity to sample the Seven Seas titles. _________________

Yes, in both instances of the press release, I took pictures holding my PSP in front of my computer monitor with no flash to ensure the screen was fully visible. I could have taken it in a dark room (like in that 1Up.com article), but wanted something more Seven Seas-y. ^_^
If you'd like some background on how the idea to put manga on the PSP came up, then feel free to sit back and hear a cool little tale!
Back on April 19th, I was trying out getting various files onto my PSP without using up the entire 32mb memory stick that comes with the system. Ended up having to delete that episode of Negima I had on there, but what I ended up with was a sweet set of Luna pages. I showed Jason and he was totally impressed. Next thing I know, nine hours fly by and those zip files were the result.
What's even cooler? This soooo made Jason get himself a PSP.
As for the next chapters, we're working out the details and hosting needs for those. So, updates as soon as their available. _________________

It seems that we started a industry revolution. ^_^
First Seven Seas Entertainment puts its manga on the PSP...
Then Anime Crash announces it has anime on the PSP...
"Anime Crash Goes PSP (2005-05-04 19:58:49)
Following in the footsteps of Seven Seas, Anime Crash has announced that they will have made previews of their animation titles available for download for PSP. The previews, of shows such as Geisters and Shiden, can be found in the "library" section on their website."
And now Central Park Media has anime on the PSP...
"New York, NY (May 5, 2005) – America's leading supplier of Japanese animation, Central Park Media, is proud to announce the availability of downloadable trailers formatted for the Sony PSP portable gaming system. Anime fans with PSP systems can now get samples of great anime titles to take advantage of their PSP’s remarkable video playback capabilities."

Looks to be a very exciting time indeed!
Now all the PSP needs is a built in 4gb micro-hard drive and it'll be an iPod killer. _________________
