Announcing the first-ever gomanga contest!
HAVE YOU EVER WISHED YOU COULD BE A MANGA CHARACTER?
Well, if you can draw yourself as one, you might get your wish! We're going to help TWO very lucky people become immortalized as characters in the upcoming Seven Seas manga series Blade for Barter and Amazing Agent Luna. It's easy to enter, and free!
Step 1.
Draw yourself in a manga style. You can use whatever drawing materials you want, color or black and white. You can make it a full body picture, or just a headshot. Proportions can be normal or super-deformed. Whatever style best expresses your "manga-self" is what we want to see!
Step 2.
Save your image as a jpeg file. You'll have to scan your file or take a digital photo-no hard copies will be accepted. (Because of the unique prize being offered, time is of the essence!) Keep your file size under 1 megabyte.
Step 3.
E-mail your self-portrait to contest[at]gomanga.com by NOVEMBER 30th, 2004. Please include your first name or nickname, age, and where you're from, as well as an e-mail address or phone number that we can use to contact you if you win. Limit one entry per user. You must be at least 13 to participate.
Step 4.
Visit the gomanga forums to vote on your favorite entries! From December 1st through the 7th we'll post all of the entries in batches of 10. The top entries from each group will move on to the finals. From December 8th through the 12th, vote on your favorite boy and favorite girl self-portraits. The artist with the most votes in each category will become officially "mangafied!" (Hint: any registered members can vote, so get your friends to sign up for the forums to get those extra votes!)
The Grand Prize
The winning artists will have their likenesses drawn in for a cameo in one of Seven Seas' manga titles. In addition to being in the book, the top two entries will receive a hot-off-the-press copy of the book they appear in, signed by the artist, to be delivered in February.
Runners Up
The top 3 runners up in each category will receive a signed copy of one of Seven Seas launch titles, to be delivered in February.

Official Rules and Conditions
1. ELIGIBILITY
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. To enter the contest, (a) you must be 13 years of age or older, (b) you must have Internet access and an email account, and (c) you must be a resident of the United States (excluding the State of Rhode Island, and excluding Guam, Puerto Rico, U.S. territories, military installations and commonwealths) or Canada (excluding Quebec). Employees of Sponsor, its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, representatives, advertising, promotion and publicity agencies and members of the immediate families (defined as parents, children, siblings and spouse, regardless of where they reside) or households of such employees are not eligible. Contest is void where prohibited, restricted or taxed by law. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.
3. DURATION
The contest period begins at on November 8, 2004, and ends at 11:59pm (PDT) on November 30, 2004.
4. SELECTION OF WINNING ENTRIES
The winning submissions will be determined by popular vote on the gomanga.com web site. Winners will be notified via e-mail and announced on gomanga.com along with their winning entries no later than January 1, 2005. The odds of winning this contest depend on the total number of eligible entries.
5. PRIZE
There are five (5) available prizes.
The Grand Prize
There are two (2) grand prizes, one for the male winner and one for the female winner. Each winning artist will have his or her likeness drawn in for a cameo in one of Seven Seas' manga titles. Runners Up
There are six (6) runner-up prizes. The top three runners up in each category will receive a signed copy of one of Seven Seas launch titles, to be delivered in February.
If winner cannot be contacted at the email address they submitted, or is contacted and does not respond by signing and returning to us for our receipt within the time indicated on the documents, an Affidavit of Eligibility (or, in Canada, a Declaration of Compliance with Contest Rules) and Publicity Release, or refuses or is ineligible to accept prize, the prize may be awarded to the next highest ranking entrant on or about December 15, 2004. Any prize not claimed by one alternately chosen winner will not be awarded. Prizes are not transferable. No substitution of prize for cash or other goods and services is permitted, except Sponsor reserves the right to provide a substitute prize of approximately equal value. Taxes on prizes (including, without limitation, income or withholding taxes), if any, are the sole responsibility of the individual winners.
6. GENERAL CONDITIONS
By entering into the contest, (a) you agree to all of the terms and conditions of these Official Rules and Conditions, (b) you warrant that your entry is your own original work and that it does not violate any rights of any third party, and (c) you assign and agree to assign to Sponsor all rights, title and interest, including copyright, in or to your entry. Entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned. By participating in this contest, you agree that Sponsor may post your entries on the gomanga.com Web Site (http://www.gomanga.com) or on the gomanga.com Message Board at anytime during the contest along with your forum name (or real name) and city/state or province/country of residence. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, may edit and modify any submission before posting. Sponsor and its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion and publicity agencies and all of their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assigns are not in any way responsible or liable for damages, loss or injury resulting from participation in this contest or acceptance, loss or use of any prizes awarded in this contest. You further agree that in any cause of action, Sponsor's liability will be limited to the cost of entering and participating in the contest, and in no event shall Sponsor be liable for attorney's fees. You waive the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages. Except where prohibited, you agree that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved under the laws of the State of California, without respect to any conflict of law issues, and entrant agrees that such shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the U.S. Federal and State Courts of Sacramento County, California, U.S.A. You assume sole liability for injuries, including personal injuries and/or damage to property or prize, caused or claimed to be caused by participating in this contest or the acceptance, loss, shipment, or use of any prize awarded. Sponsor is not responsible for any failure to contact entrants, whether due to technical or human error. All of Sponsor's decisions regarding the application and interpretation of the Rules are final.
7. WINNERS LIST
The winners of this contest will be posted on http://www.gomanga.com no later than January 1, 2005.
