Episode 5, Page #17 - "Reactions"

MirrorMask in one word...breathtaking. I picked up the DVD today and was just blown away by it. It's just a very beautiful movie to look at visually and it has all of Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean's personal stylings all over it--heck, it's like McKean's art has come to life! It's also just as epic and charming as the Labyrinth or Dark Crystal, but without any muppets (or David Bowie in tight pants).

If you're a hardcore Neil Gaiman fan--you know, the guy that wrote The Sandman and Death and all sorts of other stuff--or love stuff from the Jim Henson Company, then MirrorMask is a total "must have" DVD. If you fall outside of that category, then it's definitely worth a rent. It's just a really cool looking movie with some pretty fun characters thrown in.

Yeah, I went DVD shopping again. I do that every Tuesday, but you knew that. ^_-

Aside from MirrorMask, I also picked up Grey's Anatomy Season 1 and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Season 1, Vol. 2. The first thing I did was watch the extras on both of those. Grey's Anatomy's extras were okay, but nothing to really write home about. He-Man was really more of the same also--which meant more insightful episode-by-episode factoids and tidbits.

Okay, I'll hush up about DVDs and tell you a little bit about what I've got on my plate right now. See, I'm busy working with the layout team to get Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh Vol. 1 lettered and ready for the printers. Lots of hiccups along the way, but I hope we're finally on the right track as far as manga film goes. On top of that, though, is the Boogiepop Returns novel that's staring me in the face. The delays we've experienced with getting the manga film sorted out have actually made the first manga's production overlap with the second novel. We have different layout artist working on each title, but has given me my first real taste of having to juggle two projects at once. Throw in Aoi House Vol. 1--which I'm also putting together also--and I'm actually juggling three very unique projects at once! It's no wonder I ramble on about DVDs, huh? ^_^;

Well, that's it for today. Shiei and I'll catch you back here on Friday as we kick off Episode 6! See you then!
